Esper
Esper

Esper is a 12-year-old witch out on her culture’s version of Rumspringa. She isn’t quite ready to grow up and embraces childhood’s many freedoms. She has recently taken up residence in the town’s “haunted house” and though she presents herself as a young witch in training she is actually a bit of a misfit. She has a hard time letting things go when she’s been embarrassed, tends to have a short temper, and lashes out without thinking. She sees herself as a bit of a rock-star though this couldn’t be further from the truth. In reality most people think she is obnoxious.
Esper’s hair is in a constant state of levitation due to a spell of her own devising and it often foreshadows her mood. Despite a handful of successful spells, however, Esper is very inexperienced with her magic. Her lack of discipline is the source of most of her problems.
Esper drags Olive way beyond her comfort-zone, forcing her to break out of her shell by any means necessary.

Olive

Olive

Olive is a sweet but shy 12-year-old girl that is invisible to everyone else at school. Living at home with a single father Olive has matured way too fast. Her older brother has moved away and she both admires and resents him for it. She looks to him with a kind of hero worship and secretly wishes to follow in his footsteps by becoming an athletic superstar on the baseball field.
Olive seems to be caught somewhere between adolescence and adulthood. She is incredibly goal-oriented and sees her schooling as her only ticket to a better life. Her main escape is her obsession with the book series “The Dark Hour”, a horror anthology series much like “Goosebumps”. From books to TV shows the series is her only vice.
Olive acts as an anchor to keep Esper grounded. She is the voice of reason to Esper’s exploits.
